Planned Wealth Solutions, an Ausure licensed insurance brokerage based in Cleveland, Queensland, has found creative and fun ways to do good for others. PWS Director and Senior Insurance Broker Christine Maguire reports, “We have recently made donations of all our old computer equipment to one of the Be A HERO current projects. This project is being organised for January next year.”
The project involves setting up an IT infrastructure for a large community transformation organisation in Poi Pet, a small town on the border of Cambodia and Thailand. The goal is to raise $10,000 to ensure this project is a success. Be A HERO Australia is an international aid organisation and over the past year they have been working rigorously to fund and build a safe haven for children who would otherwise be trafficked for either child labour or used in the sex industry.
“On Friday 1st October we took part in the Youngcare Thong Day by purchasing Youngcare thongs and hosting a our own Thong-a-Thon at work“ says Maguire. “We donned our thongs for the day and made our own contribution to the lives of young Australians with full time care needs.”
There are 6,500 young Australians with full-time care needs currently living in aged care simply because there are few alternatives. A further 700,000 people are being cared for at home by family and friends. Young people deserve to live young lives, regardless of their care needs, and this Thong Day we helped to make a difference be it a very small one.
